SAY NO TO REZONING

With the TSMC chip plant’s first three fabs scheduled to go fully online by 2030, and with 15,000 new homes planned to be built along the 303 corridor near the plant beginning in 2031, the time to ease overcrowding at schools is now before the planned communities are fully built out. The Long Range Planning Committee's mission is to find the best solutions that positively impact the district by 2035 with less focus on today. Recommended boundary changes approved by the governing board will take effect at the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Open Forums for the changes to local school boundaries start tonight! There’s been a lot of good ideas and discussions going on in various social media groups, and I think attending and speaking to your thoughts and ideas for our area is helpful.

The current suggested map splits fireside at Cooperhead Trail, the north section school would be Norterra Canyon and the south Union Park. The Enclave and Norterra Ridge neighborhoods are included in the “north” portion, with Copper Basin as part of the “south” section. I’ll post the map in the comments.

As things stand, if these maps are approved, students can be grandfathered in to their current school but bus transportation will not be provided if a student doesn’t live in the school boundaries.

This suggested map is not final, changes are still being discussed by a Long Range Planning Comittee. The DVUSD Board will hear suggestions at the Feb 17 Board meeting and the hope is to have final maps voted in by March 10 to facilitate proper hiring for implementation of new boundaries to take effect for the 26-27 school year.
